The waters around Hornby Island are full of a rich variety of marine life. In any season, you can encounter Giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, harbour seals, large ling cod and rock fish, colourful anemones and nudibranchs.
In winter, Steller's and California sea lions gather in the area to feed on huge schools of herring. Their underwater acrobatics are a treat to watch.
Good visibility and gentle currents make the Hornby Island area easy to dive. Drift dives, wall dives, deep dives, and sculpted sandstone reefs are all part of the underwater terrain.
This weekend charter includes two days of diving (two divers per day), accommodation, all meals from Friday dinner to Monday lunch. Join us for a weekend of fun!
|8 November||Enjoy the drive up the east coast of Vancouver Island to Hornby Island. We'll arrive in time for a gourmet dinner before settling into our rooms. If you are feeling energetic a late afternoon or early evening shore dive is available.|
|9 November||Two dives will allow us to have fun with the sea lions and then explore the thousands of anemones, nudibranchs and sunstars at our selected dive sites. Spend the afternoon exploring Heliwell Park or take a visit to one of the many local business on Hornby including the Meadery, Gin Distillery or local artisians.|
|10 November||Two more dives will allow us to continue exploring the many sites horby has to offer, and find a wolf eel or Octopus. Make sure to bring your mountain bike, paddle board, kyak and spend the afternoon doing all the things you didn't get a chance to do the day before.|
|11 November||Two more great dives will give you the chance to explore the walls and reefs around Hornby. One dive will be dedicated to the sea lions. We head home after lunch.|
