Specialty Instructor

Dive more, have more fun and teach about your favorite subjects. Specialty Instructor Courses provide valuable teaching tips for meeting the requirements of each Specialty course. Having five specialty instructor ratings is a prerequisite for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating. You can choose from any of the 26 standard specialty courses that PADI offers.

Specialty Instructor


Each Instructor Level program follows the curriculum of the associated Specialty Course. An additional orientation night will be required and will be organized at the time of registration.

We also offer specialty instructor courses for Altitude Instructor, Cavern Diver Instructor, DPV Instructor, Enriched Air Instructor, Equipment Instructor, Gas Blender Instructor, Ice Diver Instructor, Multi-Level Instructor, National Geographic Instructor, Project Aware Instructor, Coral Reef Instructor, Fish Identification Instructor, Self Reliant Diver Instructor, Sidemount Instructor, Videographer Instructor.


Course Curriculum

Before the Program Begins

When you sign up for the course, we'll make arrangements for you to come into the store for an orientation and to pick up your student package. We encourage you to pick up your student package at least 10 days before your course begins as you will want to complete the learning material prior to your first classroom session.


What gear will you need?

We Provide:
  • Expert instruction from our team of PADI Instructors
  • Air and tank fills for your training dives
  • Unlimited acces to our pool for practice sessions and skill development during your program
  • You Supply:
    • As a professional, you are expected to provide a full scuba kit in accordance with PADI standards
    • Course material is an additional cost for all professional level programs. Required materials include:
      • Specialty Instructor Guide
      • Student Level Guide
    • Not included in the course are Specialty Instructor application fees payable to PADI upon course completion.

    Course Prerequisites

    • Enrolled in or have completed the PADI Instructor Development Program
    • At least 18 years old
    • Student level certification for the specialty (may be completed at the same time as the Instructor program)
