Have you ever wondered what it's like to breathe underwater. If you want to find out but aren't quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience will let you try scuba to see if you like it. We offer this program at our pool location. Many people like to try it close to home or before heading on vacation.
While not an actual scuba certification, by participating in the Discover Scuba Diving experience you'll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water and get a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.
Need a different schedule. Just ask - we will do our best to accommodate! We will offer this course with a minimum of four students.×
When you sign up for the course, we will ask you to submit the Required Forms for this program and in particular, we want you to review the PADI medical form. This is your only homework before the class begins, but it is essential that you look it over carefully and if necessary have it signed off by a physician before the course begins. Students who arrive with incomplete medical documentation may not be able to participate in the pool session and may be subject to additional fees for a make up session. Please discuss any concerns with our store staff well before your first in-water training session.
The course begins at the store where we’ll go over some introductory knowledge about scuba diving safety, techniques and equipment. We’ll also introduce you to some of the skills you’ll encounter in the pool.
The pool session follows the classroom. Here you will be introduced to equipment assembly and some basic scuba skills. You will have time to practice breathing and swimming underwater and start to learn the basics of buoyancy control. You will need to be able to transport yourself and your gear to the pool, which is about a 5 minute drive away. At the end of the evening, we head back to the shop to drop gear off and sign your course completion forms.
If you enjoy this first experience with the underwater world (and we have a feeling you will), we encourage you to go ahead and register for the full Open Water course to become a certified diver.×
To take PADI Discover Scuba Diving, you must be at least 10 years old (10 to 14 year olds must register with a parent).×

There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. It takes a little getting used to - after all, human beings weren't designed to do that - but after a few minutes of awestruck wonder, most participants realize how easy scuba diving really is. The biggest challenge instructors have with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program is not coaxing participants into the water, but coaxing them out when the program is over. The fun part? It's all fun!
Once you complete a Discover Scuba Diving program, you'll want to check out the PADI Open Water Diver course.
